dps Wailer 112RP Intro with Marshall Olson

Marshall Olson of dps skis introduces the new Fall 2010 dps Wailer 112RP skis.  They will be available in both "Pure" Carbon construction and a "Hybrid" Bamboo Core Construction.  Both will share the exact shape.

From the 2010/2011 dps Catalog:
"RP stands for Resort Pow.  The Thoroughbred Lotus series is now matched with a shape that is meant to be skied all day at the resort.  The Wailer 112RP bridges the gap with a shape that combines the loose and early planing feel of a fully rockerred ski with aggressive sidecut and slight camber underfoot.  It's a one-ski quiver for planing in untracked in the morning, laying trenches down to the lift on the groomed, and slaying crud in the afternoon.  A 15mm radius underfoot and great torsional stiffness allow for maximum versatility, while the rockered and tapered tips and tail allow the Wailer 112RP to get loose and be driven from the ball of the foot in deeper snow.

Lengths: 168cm, 178cm, 190cm
Wm Lengths: 168cm, 178cm

Dimensions: 141mm / 112mm / 128mm
Radius: 18m

Icelantic Keeper Ski Intro with Ben Anderson

Bent Gate Mountaineering was at the SIA Tradeshow this past week and caught up with Ben Anderson of Icelantic Skis. Here's a video with a short introduction to their new Keeper skis that will be available Fall 2010.

From the 2010/2011 Icelantic Catalog:
The Keeper is a different kind of big-mountain powder ski. With an early rise tip and tail, the Keeper's ability to float through bottomless snow both forward and switch is unmatched. With traditional camber underfoot, the skier's weight triggers the tip and tail to rise, allowing them to blast through any snow condition with ease. Combine this with Icelantic's signature side cut ant the Keeper transforms from a pure powder ski to a crud bustin, trench carving machine. The Keeper is Icelantic's answer to a rocker, just different!

Lengths: 167cm, 178cm, 189cm

Dimensions: 150mm / 119mm / 136mm

Behind the scenes with Bent Gate Mountaineering and Serac Adventure Films

December 3rd, 2009 - 9am - 1 hour before we're open for business, and Bent Gate Mountaineering was bustling with activity.

Behind the scenes at Bent Gate is usually interesting, and today we were getting to preview the 2010/2011 Garmont ski boot line with a presentation straight from Italy!  Our local rep Ian was coming over with Gord, President of Garmont USA, and Gianluca, who is in charge of international product development.  Sweet.  We not only get to check out new product, but discuss it with people that can make things happen.

That particular morning we double booked the 9am slot.  Not just a minor distraction either.  Our friends over at Serac Adventure Films (www.seracfilms.com) were shooting a project for Outside Magazine's Online Buyer's Guide, and were on location to shoot 1-2 minute advice clips from our sales floor.

When I talked to Jon & Tom, who did the honors, they said the hardest part wasn't facing the lights and cameras, it was trying to convey meaningful advice in such a short time frame.
